Passed away Thursday morning, April 13, 2017, at Union Court Assisted Living in St. Charles. She was 91 years old. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood Street, Chesaning. Fr. William Gruden will officiate. Burial will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation for Mrs. Sumbera will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. Her family will be present at the church to welcome friends from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of the Mass.

Ann was born in Elsie, Michigan on November 21, 1925, the daughter of Steve and Pauline (Kisela) Remenar. She married Edward J. Sumbera, Sr. on April 12, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2008. Ann was a graduate of St. Paul’s High School in Owosso and the St. Lawrence School of Nursing in Lansing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three children and their spouses, Ed and Donna Sumbera of New Lothrop, Denise and Richard Davidson of Owosso, and Kellene “Kelly” and Thomas Nietling of Fife Lake; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, Sr.; three brothers, Mike, Julius, and Emil; and a sister, Mary.
