Stanley Lancznyski, age of 95, passed away on Thursday morning, October 15, at Schnepp Senior Care Facility from natural causes.
He was born on May 27, 1925 in North Star, Michigan to Julia and Joseph Lanczynski.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a tank driver in the 748th Tank Battalion. During his three-year tour he crossed Omaha Beach and fought battles throughout France, Rhineland, and Central Europe. After the war he married Alice Dowd, whom he had eight children with. He farmed part time and worked as a mechanic, but he loved being a welder most of all.
Stanley loved the outdoors; hunting and fishing were two of his many hobbies. For many years his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren would accompany him and his wife, Sophie, on family camping trips to Burt Lake and S. Higgins Lake State Park. He was a member at St. Peter Catholic Parish in Chesaning. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion.
Surviving is his wife, Sophie and her son Bill (Beverly) Mills; his first wife, Alice Lanczynski, and children, Alan (Rosetta) Lanczynski, Raymond (Ann) Lanczynski, Marcia (Paul) Groomes, Beverly (Randy) Auiler, Paul (Barb) Lanczynski, Joan Gross, Irene (Tom) Foulds, and many grandchildren, great grand-children, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is the last of his siblings to pass; preceded by his parents, Julia and Joseph Lanczynski, his sister Helen Mahoney, older brothers John Zalecki and Joe Lanczynski. His eldest daughter, Dianne (Joe) Martinus just recently passed away on October 3, also preceding him in death.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Monday, October 19, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at McGeehan Funeral Homes Martin Chapel on Sunday, October 18th from 2:00 to 7:00pm with a song and Rosary shared shortly before 7pm.
