Roland J. Coonrod of Brady Twp., age 87, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018, at his home.
Roland was born on October 2, 1930 in Brady Township to the late Herman and Frances (Hollerback) Coonrod. He was a lifelong resident of Brady Township. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Roland was united in marriage to Gloria Ann Schneider on May 18, 1957. He was a lifelong farmer and retired from Fisher Body in Flint in 1984. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Parish and the UAW Local #598. Roland enjoyed farming, raising cattle, being with family and driving his ranger.
He is survived by: wife, Gloria; children: Janet (Steve) Devereaux of Chesaning, Gary Coonrod of Chesaning, Judy (Kevin) Kunik of St. Charles, Jackie Holzhausen of Oakley, Angie (Ron) Amman of St. Charles; grandchildren: Jacob (Brittaney) Devereaux, Brooke (Mitch) Bell, Zack (Hasina) Devereaux, Trenton Devereaux, Josh Kunik, Alex Kunik, Nicole (Nick) Wright, Bobbi Holzhausen, Baron Amman and Brevin Amman; great grandson, Jackson Wright; sister, Shirley (Joe) Dick of Oakley; numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was also preceded in death by: daughter, Deb Coonrod in 1987, brother, Raymond Coonrod, and a sister, Donna Thiel.
Rev. Fr. William Gruden will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 at St. Peter Parish, 404 S. Wood St. in Chesaning. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery with military funeral honors. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 2-5 p.m. at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Honoring the Easter holiday, there will be no visitation on Sunday.
