Fulton, Robert L. of Oakley, age 90, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Oakley with Fr. Bill Gruden officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Oakley with military funeral honors under the auspices of American Legion Post #212. Visitation will be 2-8:30 p.m. Monday at Misiuk Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church until time of the Mass. A Parish Prayer Service will be 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 8 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Owosso V.F.W. Robert was born in Marstella, PA on February 17, 1925, the son of Arthur and Violet (Patterson) Fulton. He married Ethel Mae Mahoney in Owosso on February 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 5, 1995. Robert was a lifelong farmer. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, having served during WWII aboard the U.S.S. O’Neill. He was a member of the American Legion. For many years, he placed the U.S. flags on the deceased Veterans’ graves in the Oakley-Brady cemeteries. Robert was a longtime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and St. Peter Catholic Church. Mr. Fulton was a member and Past President of the Saginaw County Farm Bureau and member of Brady Neighbors Group. Along with his wife, they prepared food for the Mid-Michigan Gas Tractor Association’s annual tractor day event for many years.
Mr. Fulton is survived by his five sons, Robert and Rose of Westfield, MA, Ronald and Bonnie of Cedarville, Michael and Julie of Wasilla, AK, Jeffrey and Deborah of Oakley, Dennis and Danyella of Oakley; 11 grandchildren: 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; brother, Ross and Donna of Brohman; sister, Betty Smith of Northville; many loved nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, William, and Joseph; and longtime companion, Patricia Wesley.
