Mary A. Maike
Of Chesaning
Passed away Wednesday morning, July 19, 2017, at age 92, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Chesaning Township on June 26, 1925, the daughter of Stefan and Agatha (Liptak) Polash. Mary married Alfred B. Maike on May 1, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Charles, MI. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2007.
Mary graduated from Chesaning High School and the Saginaw West Side Academy School of Cosmetology in Saginaw. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chesaning, a member of Daughters of Isabella and Saginaw Catholic League of Catholic Women, and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 6579 Women’s Auxiliary in New Lothrop.
Mary is survived by her sons, Alfred and wife Rosemary Maike and Bruce Maike; daughter, Mary Kay and husband Roger Ososki; grandchildren, Joely, Chad, and Ashley Maike, Phillip Mahan, Eric Ososki, and Angela Schoof; great-grandchildren, Charlie Maike and Madeline and Kaline Schoof; sister, Irene Bakos; brother, Steve Polash; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 59 years, Alf; a son, Phillip; infant daughters, Margo Ann and Tina Marie; sisters, Rose Wesley and Ann Gross; and brothers, Bill, Joe, and Louis Polash.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood Street, Chesaning. Fr. William Gruden will officiate. Her family will be present at the church to welcome friends from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of the Mass.
