GIESKEN, Louis H. “Louie” – of Chesaning passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor after a brief illness battling leukemia. He was 79 years of age. Louis was born in Owosso on December 30, 1944, a son of the late Hugo and Muriel Giesken. Louie graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help in the Class of 1962. He went on to marry his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Judie Klco on July 31, 1965. Louie and Judie were blessed with three children, Michelle, Doug, and Mike. Louie retired from GM (Buick) after 42 years of service. Louie was an avid snowmobiler, putting on literally thousands of miles each year on the trails throughout Michigan and Northern Ontario with his many snowmobiling buddies. Louie could also be found on the golf course once the snow melted, playing hundreds of rounds each Spring and Summer at Twin Brooks, where he served as President in the past, as well as traveling throughout Michigan with his traveling league. Once Fall came around, Louie was the voice of the Chesaning Indians football, announcing home games for 40-plus years. Louie was also a charter member of “The Boys on the Bus”, travelling to away games during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Judie; children, Michelle (Chris) Coyne of Prudenville, Doug (Cherrie) Giesken of Chesaning, and Mike (Tracey) Giesken of Chesaning; seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Christian) Elliot, Miranda Coyne, Linette (Robert) Sager, Chris (Jen) Hemker, Brennan Giesken, Hayden Giesken, and Dawson Giesken; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Sager, Brady Sager, Blaine Hemker, Colt Hemker, and Roman Elliot; sister-in-law, Laurie Giesken; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Muriel Giesken; parents-in-law, John and Rita Klco; brothers, Dennis and Robert Giesken; and a grandson, Jamie Lorencz. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 South Wood, Chesaning. Fr. Andrzej Boroch will officiate. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at Misiuk Funeral Home and then Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. A Vigil for the Deceased will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary service at 7 p.m. You may light a memorial candle or share a memory at misiukfuneralhome.com.
