Joseph F. Sedlar died peacefully in his daughter’s home on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, a few days before his 95th birthday. He was born in New York City in 1923, and was the son of the late Thomas and Anna Sedlar. Joseph married Pauline (Pavuk) Sedlar in Toledo, Ohio on July 18, 1942, and they remained happily married for 73 years. He served in World War II as a flight navigator and worked as an industrial engineer for the General Motors Corporation.
Mr. Sedlar is survived by his eight children, Judy (Ron) Galley of Clarkston, Paulette (Jim) Bennett of Troy, Ohio, Joseph Jr. (Deana) Sedlar of Chesaning, James Sedlar of Traverse City, Joann Sedlar of Florida, John (Nancy) Sedlar of Florida, Jeffrey (Virginia) Sedlar of Howell, and Jolene (Frank) Gentile of Pennsylvania; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, and his daughter, Barbara Sedlar.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2018, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, Chesaning. Fr. William Gruden will officiate. Burial with military funeral honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Misiuk Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church until time of the Mass. A Rosary Service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
