REIBER, Howard J. – of Chesaning, died Sunday, October 11, 2020. He was 96 years of age.
Howard was born March 30, 1924 in St. Charles Township to the late Joseph and Lillian (Griniwald) Reiber. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He was united in marriage to Myra Rolfe on November 23, 1946. Mr. Reiber was a mechanic and became the owner of Reiber and Schwartz Auto Dealership. Howard retired from Chesaning Union Schools as a mechanic. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Chesaning Council #2943 and the American Legion Post #212.
Surviving are: wife, Myra; children: Sharon Alexander of Chesaning, John “Jack” (Mary Beth) Reiber of Chesaning, Susan (James) Winiarski of Frankenmuth, Karla (Darrell) Hensley of South Haven; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings: Agnes Kline of Chesaning, Joseph “Mart” Reiber of Merrill, Frank (Sally) Reiber of Chesaning; sister-in-law, Patricia Reiber of AZ; brother-in-law, Fred Toma of Chesaning; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by: siblings: Esther Buxman, Blanche Hench, Fred Reiber, Carol Toma, John “Jack” Reiber, Edward Reiber, Frances Kukulis, Edith Turnwall, George Reiber; son-in-law, Orvil Alexander: and grandson, Ted Wicke.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Chesaning. Fr. William Gruden officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 am until time of mass at 11 a.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or the River Rapids Library.
