Age 102 of Chesaning went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at Mid-Michigan Health Center in Midland while in the loving arms of her devoted family.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Fr. Kevin Maksym presiding with burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider donations to Midland’s Open Door in Frances’s name.
Frances was born on August 20, 1920, daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary (Podolan) Krizan at the family home located in Chesaning. She met her only love, Louis Jurecka, and they were married on October 26, 1940. Together they shared 47 years of marriage before Louis’s death on November 28, 1987. Each year, the Thanksgiving holiday was a time of remembrance of her lifelong love. Frances and Louis worked hard together on their farm and the home they had built together. She also worked at Farmer Peet’s Meats in Chesaning and as the “Relief Girl” at Redmond’s in Owosso, meaning she had to know every job at Redmond’s so that she could cover all shifts when the other employees took breaks. Frances stopped working outside of the home and continued working on their farm when God promoted her with her greatest title, “Mother.” She took immense pride in being a mother. As her son, Michael, grew older, Frances was very active in the Chesaning High School Band. She was proud of Michael and his band, The Mike Jurecka Band, always following them to dance the polka. Frances was overjoyed to become a grandmother at the age of 80 to her beloved grandson, Mike. The two have always been remarkably close, almost inseparable. Each day after Mike finished high school, welding class or work, he would spend at least an hour watching movies, going for rides, and making sure that “Nana” was feeling happy and had a good day. Frances was blessed to have lived to see Mike grow into a man, drive a truck (which has allowed them to travel the roads and go… go… go…). Frances and Mike attended church together regularly at Blessed Sacrament until Covid. This bond was truly blessed by time. While her greatest joy was being the best mother and grandmother, she also loved to bake, belonged to a Bible study club and the extension through MSU. Frances belonged to a card party club with many of their friends. She lived independently on her farm until she was 90 years old at which time she moved to live in Midland with Michael, his wife Darci and their son, Mike.
Frances leaves to cherish her memory one son, Michael Jurecka; daughter-in-law, Darci Jurecka; grandson, Michael Jacob Jurecka all of Midland; extended family, Nancy Wallace with whom she enjoyed many day trips, Euchre games and laughs through the years. She also will be deeply missed by nieces and nephews, Bob and Mary Anne Tithof of Orlando, FL who called her weekly or sent a post card or letter reminiscing, leaving her with a smile until the next time they would connect; niece, Elaine and Randy Hughes of Columbiaville, MI; niece, Mildred and Fred Delay of Swartz Creek, MI; niece, Lorrie Tithof of Florida
In addition to her parents and her husband, Frances was preceded in death by a sister, Mary and her husband, Jay Bolton; brother, Frank Krizan; nephew, Don Tithof and his wife, Mary; nephew, Kenneth Tithof.
