David Thompson Obituary David Chester Thompson of Chesaning, formerly of Saginaw.
Passed away on April 2, 2025, at the age of 81.
The son of Margaret (DeCaire) Thompson Lichon and Kenneth Thompson, and stepfather Edward Lichon. He was born on October 25, 1943. He graduated in 1962, from Saint Peter and Paul High School. He is a Veteran of the United States Navy. Dave married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn A. (Brilliant) Thompson on September 18, 1965. He hired into Saginaw Steering Gear in 1964 as a production worker and retired from Delphi Automotive on January 31, 2001 as a Superintendent of Skilled Trades.
David was a member of Saint Peter Parish in Chesaning, Michigan at the time of his death. He served on the Board of Directors for Holy Spirit Parish Credit Union, currently First Area Credit Union, for over thirty years. He served on the first Parks and Recreation commission for Thomas Township. He was a member of the Shields Area Jaycees. For a number of years, he served as a volunteer for the Saginaw County Sheriff Department. He loved to golf, deer hunt, bowl, play bridge, and spend time at his cabin at Higgins Lake. He very much enjoyed the time he spent with all his family members.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn A. (Brilliant) Thompson; two children, Mark (Barbara) Thompson of Shawnee, Kansas and Cheri Thompson Thiel of Chesaning, Michigan. His grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as "Papa", David R. Thompson of New Hampshire, Ohio, Emily Thiel (Paxton Ruddy) of Chesaning, Michigan, Jackson Thiel (Abagail VanHaaren) of Chesaning, Michigan, and Sarah Amos (Kane Harmon) of Shawnee, Kansas, and son-in-law, Jeff Thiel. Also surviving are brothers-in-law, William (Frances) Brilliant and Michael Nagel; sister-in-law, Marilyn Brilliant, step-brothers, Kenneth Lichon and Keith (Georgia) Lichon, step-sister, Janet Lichon Campeau (Jim Miller) and several nieces and nephews survive him. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Thompson Denome, sister-in-law, Colette Nagel and step-brothers, Ronald Lichon and David Lichon.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, with a Rosary service at 7:00pm, at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Peter Catholic Church in Chesaning, with visitation one hour before mass. Entombment will follow at St. Andrew Mausoleum in Saginaw.
