Barbara Jean Maike, of Chesaning, passed away peacefully at home on February 21, 2025, with family by her side, at the age of 94.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 27, at St. Peter Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, from 2:00pm - 7:00pm at McGeehan Funeral Homes Martin Chapel. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm.
Barb was born on September 30, 1930, in Owosso, Michigan to Clarence and Eva (Hurst) Welch. She graduated from St. Paul High School with the class of 1949. She married the love of her life, Leonard Maike, on February 4, 1950. They shared 66 years of marriage until his passing in 2016.
During her life, she co-owned Main Beverage Co. with her husband, Leonard. He was the "PR man" while she kept the business running. She enjoyed boating, golf, tennis, bowling, traveling to Florida, hosting parties and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Christine (Stewart) Devereaux, Sandy (Roger) German, Carol Kim, Elaine Maike, Keith Maike (Jennifer Haber); grandchildren, Mark (Kelley) Devereaux, Mandy (Pete) Volk, Shasta (David) Newton, Dawn (John) McDonagh, Sherry Cervantes, Samantha German, Melissa Kim, Shelby Jo Maltese, Kalvin Maike, Brandon Maike, Shain Maike; and 19 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Jo Ellen; grandson, Zachary Ostrander; sister, Patty Wesley; and son's-in-law, Thomas Lycka and George Kim.
