Age 82 of Chesaning passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Chesaning Nursing Home.

 

A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 14 with a rosary being prayed at 7pm at McGeehan Funeral Homes - Martin Chapel.

 

Arlene was born on October 9, 1940 to Frank and Helen (Hnilica) Gorecki in Owosso, Michigan. She married Alvin Hemgesberg on September 3, 1960. They shared 58 years of marriage before he predeceased her in May of 2019.

 

During her life, Arlene worked at Joe Sovis Insurance for many years. Later in life she worked for Saginaw County as the manager of the Chesaning Senior Center, retiring after 15 years. She was a lover of all animals, occasionally taking in strays. Her two favorites were her cats Rascal and Jimmie. Arlene loved to host parties and create an environment for her friends and family to gather as well as spending time with her grandsons, Kanye and Jayden.  She loved to shop, take trips up north to the cabin as well as go on car rides that ended with going out to dinner. She was a member of the United Appeal, Knights of Columbus and St. Peter's Parish.

 

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Toni (David) Harris; grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Holt, Jessica Harris; great grandchildren, Jayden Rettig and Kayne Harris; sister, Pam (Lyle) Birchmeier; and brother, Douglas Gorecki.

 

She is predeceased by her parents; grandparents; husband, Alvin; brother, Robert Gorecki; and grand daughter, Arianna Krystal-Lynn Harris.
