Ronald W. Shooltz of Fishers, Indiana, age 85, passed away Tuesday morning, September 14, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.
Ronald was born in Chesaning, Michigan on July 22, 1936, the son of the late Walter and Rose (Martin) Shooltz. Ron attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in Chesaning and graduated in the Class of 1954. Shortly afterwards, he enlisted into the US Army, where he proudly served for two years before being Honorably Discharged in April 1957. He was united in marriage to Patricia J. Swartwood on August 29, 1959. He later attended and graduated from the University of Michigan in 1969 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.
Ron was an executive in the supermarket business, having served as C.E.O. and C.O.O. in his remarkable career before retiring in 2002. Even after his retirement, he was keeping abreast of the supermarket business.
Ron and Pat have lived in Indiana for 28 years. They are members of Holy Spirit Parish at Geist in Fishers, Indiana. In his free time, Ron enjoyed golfing, playing tennis, walking, working out, sports, politics, and history. He was a wonderful husband and loving father. Ron was honest, gentle, and kind. He always had a kind word and offered his support.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Pat; their children, Lisa Shooltz of Bloomington, IN, Lori and husband Scott Bracale of New Albany, OH, Rhonda and husband Derek Danks of Fishers, IN, and Kristy and husband Brent McPike of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Nicholas Blair, Amy Blair, Tanner Bracale, Taylor Bracale, Shannon McPike, Hunter Bracale, Hailee Danks, Maia Danks, and Brendan McPike; his siblings, James Shooltz of Chesaning and Margarite Korf of Clio; nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Ron was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Gayle Shooltz, and a brother-in-law, Glen Korf.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 South Wood Street, Chesaning, Michigan at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021. Fr. Jim McDougall will officiate. A private burial will be held later at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Chesaning. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Vincent Fishers Foundation or Veterans Memorial Park. Contribution envelopes will be available at the church.
