Rita Guziak (Schimmoller), 95, went into the arms of her Lord Jesus on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Oliver Woods Retirement Village in Owosso, MI. She has joined her beloved husband of 61 years, James. Rita lived her whole life in Chesaning, attended Chesaning High School and Saginaw Business College. She was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II with her service recognized in the Women’s Memorial in Washington, DC.
For many years her husband James and she owned a Sinclair Oil distributorship and later Rita worked at the Farm Bureau. After retiring she became the Clerk of Brady Township from 1988 until 1996. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, League of Catholic Women and, for over 70 years, the American Legion Auxiliary in Chesaning.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Joan) Guziak of Henderson, and daughters, Marie (Todd) Pryor of Grand Rapids and Joyce (George) Russel of St. Petersburg, FL along with six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be at St. Peter Parish, Chesaning on Friday, July 6 at 11 AM with burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation will be at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Thursday from 5-8 PM. The family will gather at the funeral home on Friday morning at 10:30 AM to process to the church for 11 AM Mass.
