BRIAN, Richard A. – of Chesaning, died Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary’s in Saginaw. He was 92 years of age.
Richard was born March 23, 1927 in Ecorse, MI to the late Patrick and Winifred (Morgan) Brian. He was united in marriage to Marie Hnilica on November 18, 1950. They were residents of Chesaning since 1965. Mr. Brian served in the US Navy during WW II. He worked at Windsor Star, Detroit Times, Saginaw News then Flint Journal where he retired from in 1988. Richard was a member of St. Peter Catholic Parish, American Legion Post #212 and the EAA chapter 77. He enjoyed flying his plane for over 25 years, was an avid hockey and Red Wings fan and loved his cocker spaniels.
He is survived by: wife, Marie; daughter, Susan (Lawrence) Jaskiewicz of Durand; son, Richard (Tracy) Brian of Chesaning; grandchildren: John (Corissa), Andrew (Amy), Brian (Amy), Cameron, Trisha (Troy), and Ryan; great-grandchildren: Eli, Taylor, Reagan, Xander and Jameson; siblings: Wilifred “Uncle Tubby” Brian, Joyce Brian, Thomas (Linda) Brian all of Windsor; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a sister in law, Ellen Brian, and a brother in law and sister in law, Frank and Frances Kopchitz.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 202 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Chesaning, Fr. William Gruden officiating. Rite of Committal to follow in Resurrection Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be at the Misiuk Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and at the church of Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of Mass at 10 a.m. A Parish Rosary will be prayed at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
