Passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 20, 2016, with his loving wife, Mary Ellen, by his side at Bavarian Comfort Care in Bridgeport. Ray was 90 years old. He was born June 27, 1926, in Chesaning, son of the late Oliver and Florence (Mandel) Tithof. Ray married Mary Ellen (Minnick) on December 9, 1967. He was a graduate of Chesaning Union High School and a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army. Ray retired from McDonald Dairy in Chesaning in 1980. He enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen, and their two children, Charles (Kathy) Tithof, and Russ (Theresa) Tithof; children from his first marriage, Patrick (Lissie) Tithof, Michael (Joyce) Tithof, Debora Laudicina, Mary Beth Edwards, and Joseph (Christine) Tithof; Ray’s sister, Marjorie Goodwin; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marion Bueche, and brothers, Eugene Tithof and Oliver Tithof, along with his son from his first marriage, Raymond Tithof, Jr.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016, at Saint Peter Parish Catholic Church in Chesaning. Fr. William Gruden will officiate. A private burial will be later at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Ray’s family will be present at the church to welcome friends from 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be given in Ray’s memory to Medical Team Hospice or St. Peter Parish Catholic Church.
