Michael Peter O’Hare of Chesaning, age 84, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 23, 2019, at Hospice House of Shiawassee County.
Michael was born in New Lothrop on January 14, 1935, a son of the late Raymond and Eva (Artman) O’Hare. He was raised in New Lothrop, where he attended school and graduated from New Lothrop High School. He served in the US Army. He was united in marriage to Elaine Kulhanek on September 25, 1954.
Michael worked 32 years at General Motors, retiring in 1989. He then trained and became a licensed barber. He was elected and served on the Saginaw Board of Commissioners from 1994-2012. He proudly served as their Chairman from 2008-2012. He was a member and Past Grand Knight of St. Christopher Knights of Columbus Council #2943. He was a beekeeper and MSU fan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of over 64 years, Elaine; their sons, Michael R. of Las Vegas, Patrick J. of Chesaning, and Peter C. of Pleasant Ridge; his sisters, Agatha (Paul) Sheerin of Grand Blanc, Mary Anne Raleigh of New Lothrop, and Joanie (Bud) McDowell of Fl.; several nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Michael was also preceded in death by a brother, Patrick O’Hare.
Fr. William Gruden will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood Street, Chesaning. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning Twp. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning and then Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass. The family extends a loving thanks to a special family friend, Suzy Seamon. Charitable donations may be given in his memory to St. Peter Parish Catholic Church.
