Paul, Katherine – of Owosso, formerly of Oakley, died Monday, May 6, 2019 at her residence. She was 75 years of age. Mary Katherine was born April 30, 1944, in Chicago, IL to the late Henry and Rose Mary (Gudgeon) Drabik. She was a resident of Detroit for 28 years before moving to Oakley to serve as the Pastoral Administrator at St. Michael Church in 1998. Katherine earned her Bachelors Degree from St. Xavier’s College, her Masters in Education from Marygrove College, and her Masters of Divinity from the Catholic Theological Union. She and her husband, Richard Paul, have been married and constant companions for 53 years. In her early career, she worked with children as an officer of the juvenile court and a first-grade teacher. She served as a Pastoral Associate at Christ the King Church in Detroit for 9 years and a Hospice Chaplain with the VNA for 2 years prior to taking her position at St. Michael Church in Oakley where she served for 6 years. After leaving St. Michael, she remained engaged in the community, teaching religious education, leading retreats, and supporting many families through the loss of loved ones. Katherine and Rich also remained engaged in several activities in Rosedale Park in Detroit and loved to travel the world together. Surviving are her husband, Rich; son, Gregory (Laura Hisler) Paul of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Laura (David) Richardson of Seattle, WA; granddaughters, Grace Elizabeth and Anna Mae Richardson of Seattle, WA and Isabelle Carlson of Vail, CO; brothers and sisters, Mary Beth Smith, Mary Sue Richards, and Mary Lynn Drabik each of Phoenix, AZ, Mary Jan Drabik of Raleigh,NC, Mary Pat (Randy) Knopp of Chicago, IL, Mary Rose (Howard) Ojalvo of Minneapolis, MN, John (Char) Drabik of Stockton, UT, Jay (Sheila) Drabik of Oak Lawn, IL, and James Drabik; as well as many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved Godmother, Lydia Tyler; brothers-in-law, Leslie (Bud) Smith and J.W. Richards; and nephew, Stephen Ojalvo. Visitation will be held Friday, May 17 from 2-8 pm and Saturday, May 18 from Noon-1 pm at St. Michael Church, 509 Parshall Street, Oakley, MI 48649. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2019. Janet Fulgenzi, OP will be officiating.
