Joseph E. Klasek of Chesaning, age 83, passed away Thursday morning, March 1, 2018, at Union Court Assisted Living of Chesaning. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2018, at the St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 South Wood Street, Chesaning. Fr. William Gruden will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Oakley. Visitation for Mr. Klasek will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. Sunday from the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home. Joe’s family will be present at the church to welcome relatives and friends from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of the Mass.
Joseph, one of eight children, was born in Oakley on May 3, 1934, the son of the late John Klasek Sr. and Elizabeth (Maytas) Klasek. Joe has lived his entire life in Oakley area. Until later in life, he was an avid farmer and raised livestock. He was mechanically inclined and there was nothing he could not fix on the farm. His passions included hunting, John Deere equipment, farming, being with family, and working hard to succeed.
Mr. Klasek is survived by his brother, Frank Klasek; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. Those who have passed away before him include his parents; a brother, John, Jr. and his wife Ann Klasek; and his sisters, Betty Klasek, Mary Klasek, Frances and her husband Frank Newvine, Sr., Ann and her husband George Spicer, and Agnes and her husband Joseph Basovsky.
