Jane Baker of Owosso, formerly of Chesaning, passed away Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021 at Memorial Healthcare Center, Owosso. She was 58 years of age.
Jane was born in Owosso on December 6, 1962, a daughter of Henry W. and Lugertha (Gewirtz) Baker. Jane was a graduate of Chesaning Union High School. She was a bartender for over 33 years and had worked throughout the Shiawassee County and Chesaning areas. Jane will be remembered by many, many people as a great storyteller, remembering the tales of herself in her pre-adult years. Some of her favorite stories include herself as Valedictorian of her high school graduating class and of her experiences as a Bohaty dancer and a Bozo the Clown Hula Hoop Contest Winner. She was known for wearing bright red lip stick and smelling of Estée Lauder Beautiful perfume.
Those left to cherish Jane’s memory are her daughters, Amie Dawes of Owosso and Emily Baker (Shane Morse) of Flushing; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Dustin), Joseph, Logan, and Arleigh; a great-grandson, Miles; sisters, Rosemary (Alf) Maike of Chesaning, Jackie (Dick) Porter of Owosso, and Sally (Ken) Hunt of Chesaning; brother-in-law, Doug Tithof of Oakley; friend, Will Taylor of Owosso; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and other loving relatives and friends. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Bobbie Kay Tithof; and a brother, Bill Baker. Jane's family wishes a special thanks to “ The Girls” Sue, Tammy, Vicki, and Katie.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood Street, Chesaning. Fr. Thomas J. McNamara will be officiating. Inurnment will be later at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation will be at the church Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of the Mass. Memorial contributions can be given to her family.
