Funeral Arrangements for Irene Nietling

June 1, 2016Irene S. NietlingOf ChesaningPassed away Monday, May 30, 2016, in North Port, Florida at the age of 97. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood Street, Chesaning. Fr. Bill Gruden will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Chesaning. Visitation will be from Noon-8:00 p.m. Friday at Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Irene’s family will be present at the church to welcome friends from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of the Mass.Irene was born September 21, 1918, in Maple Grove Township, Chesaning, Michigan to Frank and Barbara (Henige) Tithof. She attended St. Michael's Catholic Church and school in Maple Grove.Irene married Fred Nietling on August 19, 1939, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1965. After his death, Irene enjoyed volunteering at their parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Chesaning, cleaning the church and visiting the rest home. She was also employed in the office of Dr. McAlpine in Chesaning for 9 years and at Owosso Memorial Hospital for 9 years.Irene is survived by her five children and their spouses: Judy (Bob) Bennett of North Port, FL, Chuck (Margaret) Nietling of Chesaning and North Port, FL, Barbara (Gary) Drummelsmith of Owosso and North Port, FL, Jerry (Sally) Nietling of Chesaning and Dr. Dennis (Regina) Nietling of Dennison, TX; also 26 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She was the joy of her grandchildren's lives and always took time to enjoy everyone.She was predeceased by her parents and siblings, Bernard, Sister Bertille O.P., Phillip, Herman, Arthur, Clarence, Delores Amman, Walter, James and a baby sister, Margaret Mary; and also grandchildren, Claude O'Neill, Angelina Coty and Taylor Nietling.Memorial contributions are suggested to Dominican Sisters ~ Grand Rapids, 2025 Fulton Street East, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.Please share your online condolences with Irene’s family at misiukfuneralhome.com.
