Age 80 of Chesaning passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Mary's of Michigan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes Martin Chapel on Tuesday, August 28 from 1:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm with a Wake and Rosary beginning at 7:00pm.

Frederick was born on January 15, 1938 to Frederick J. and Frances (Mahoney) Lane, Sr. in St. Charles. He graduated from Our Lady High School in 1956 and then served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964. Fred married Elizabeth Storch on October 10, 1964; they celebrated 53 years of marriage last year.

During his life, Fred worked at Saginaw Malleable Iron for 30 years before retiring. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church where he served as an Usher for 40 years, and of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered at the Saginaw County Fair and Santa's Village. Fred enjoyed playing Senior Softball for 25 years, woodworking, and watching the Detroit Tigers. Most of all, Fred loved spending time with his family, friends, and his beloved wife, Betty.

Frederick is survived by his loving wife, Betty Lane; his children, Michelle (John) Kenney and John (Cassandra) Lane; his grandchildren, Mary Ellen Kenney, Anna Lane, Andrew Lane, Aaron Lane, and Elijah Lane; his brothers, Robert Lane, Edward (Emmajean) Lane, William (Beverly) Lane, and Timothy (Jan) Lane; his sisters, Catherine (Robert) Kerjes; Loretta (Robert) Delbridge, Joyce (Norm) Rushton, Marie (Edward) Quaderer, Joan Chase, Josephine Rushton, and Nancy (Lou) Connelly.

He is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Frances Lane; his sister, Patricia Lane; his brother, Francis Lane; his brother-in-law, Burt Chase; and his sisters-in-law, Sandra Lane and Barbara Lane.
