Donald J. Wenzlick of Chesaning, age 90, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, October 7, 2019. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
Don was born in Chesaning on August 13, 1929, the son of Nicholas and Cecilia (Gengler) Wenzlick. Don was a lifelong resident of Chesaning. He was united in marriage to Catherine Bueche on May 29, 1954. Don was a member of St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council 2943, American Legion Post #212, and Snowshoe Hunting Camp. He was a proud US Army Veteran. Don owned and operated his own successful Standard/Amoco service station until he retired in 1989. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, opening his house for coffee each morning, growing and tending to his beautiful flower gardens, hunting and traveling to Alabama each winter.
Surviving to mourn his loss are his loving daughters, Calleen (Tim) Harrison of Chesaning and Karen (Tim) Palmer of Shelby Twp., MI; adored grandchildren, Ryan (Abbey) Harrison of Grass Lake, MI, Shannon Harrison of Columbus, OH, Lauren Palmer of Atlanta, GA, and Katherine Palmer of Berkley, MI; cherished great-grandsons, Harrison Bradley, Brady and Wesley Harrison; his sister, Rita Klco of Frankenmuth; special friend, Coilah Callihan of Foley, AL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Catherine Bueche Wenzlick; his son, Donald; his parents; and many brothers and sisters.
Fr. William Gruden will celebrate his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon Friday, October 11, 2019 at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church, 404 S. Wood Street, Chesaning. Burial will be later at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at Misiuk Funeral Home with a Knights of Columbus Rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Friday visitation will be at the church from 10:30 a.m. until time of the Mass.
