Robert was born on January 10, 1925 to Raymond and Edith (Hafner) Lawton in Chesaning. On June 19, 1948, he married Virgina K. Eickholt of Maple Grove. They were married 67 years this past June.
When Bob was only 18 years old, he was drafted from Our Lady High School to serve in World War II. Over the years, he shared many of his war stories with family and friends. He was extremely proud of his country and service. Bob was well known in the community for the years he was in business at Lawton's Service Station in downtown Chesaning. He was full of life to the end; always ready to enjoy another day, another adventure. He will be missed dearly.
Robert is survived by his wife, Virginia; his 2 sons, Robert B. Lawton and Patrick R. (Brenda) Lawton; his 4 daughters, Mary J. Myers of Traverse City, Ann M.
