FOGEL, Elizabeth J. “Betty” – Formerly of Chesaning, age 85, died Monday, September 17, 2018 at Ashley Care Center.
Elizabeth was born August 26, 1933 in Chesaning, MI to the late Jacob Peter and Rose (Cieslinski) Wenzlick Sr. She was a Chesaning resident most of her life. Betty had attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School, then Central Michigan University. She was employed at Bueche Furniture for many years before her long time employment at Ben Franklin's, where she was known by many as, 'The Fabric Lady'. After the store closed, she worked at Ace Hardware until retirement. . She was a member of St. Peter Parish and a volunteer at Chesaning Historical Society. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, feeding squirrels, going to the casinos with her friends and was known for her stuffed peppers.
Surviving are: children: Jean (Dave) Niffenegger of Chesaning, William (Teresa) Fogel Jr. of Hersey, Rebecca Bates (companion Thomas Cutter) of Mt. Morris, Mary Johnson of North Branch, Janet Tithof of Chesaning, Catherine Rose (Randy) Durecki of New Lothrop; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was also preceded in death by: her husband, William Fogel Sr. in October 1993; siblings: Jacob Wenzlick Jr., Bernard Wenzlick and Constance Warren; and a niece, Dawn McCaffery.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass in her memory will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at St. Peter Parish in Chesaning with Fr. William Gruden celebrating. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the charity of one’s choice.
