Passed away Monday afternoon January 18, 2016, at the Ashley Care Center, Ashley at the age of 95. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am Monday, January 25, 2016, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Oakley. Fr. Joe Miller will officiate and will be assisted by Deacon David P. Adler, her son-in-law. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Oakley. Visitation will be 2:00-8:00 pm Sunday at Misiuk Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church until time of the Mass. Evening Prayers will be held 7:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Bertha was born in Chesaning, MI on July 9, 1920, the daughter of William P. and Mary Ann (Tietz) Amman. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School in Chesaning and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class. She married Donald D. Hart at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Chesaning on August 9, 1939. He preceded her in death in February of 1986.
Mrs. Hart was a homemaker and had worked at Reeves Wheel Alignment in Owosso and previously served as the Oakley Village Treasurer. She was a member of the St. Michael Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She was a CCD Instructor, Lector, Eucharistic Minister, a Girl Scout Instructor, and had furnished altar flowers for St. Michael Church. Bertha's greatest loves were, first, her family, and second, her flowers.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Elizabeth (Dave) Adler, Clare (Holly) Hart, Rose Ellen (William) Gasper, Linda (John) Palacio, Theresa (Basil) Zimmer, Miles Hart, Richard (Debra) Hart, Lorraine (Larry) Echert, Amy Hart-Haling (Curt), and John Hart; 29 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, Her brother William Amman and many nieces and nephews. Other loved ones who have passed away are her parents, William and Mary (Tietz) Amman; two sons, Thomas Hart and Donald G. Hart; two grandsons, John Hart, Jr. and Brian Hart; five brothers, August, Al, Leo, John and Ervin; and four sisters, Agnes, Martha, Gertrude and Marie.
