This week we celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. Also known as the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, this feast honors Jesus Christ, Really, Truly and Substantially Present under the appearances of bread and wine. This Presence happens through the change which the Church calls transubstantiation (“change of substance”), when at the Consecration of the Mass, the priest says the words which Christ Himself pronounced over bread and wine, “This is My Body,” “This is the chalice of My Blood,” “Do this in remembrance of Me.” Click the link for a Gospel reflection for this week.
The CAER Center will be collecting toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner for the month of June. Monetary donations are always welcome as well. Please place donated items in the CAER Center basket in the gathering area of the church.
This week we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Most Holy Trinity is the triune God--the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Click the link for a Gospel reflection and prayer for this week.
Click the link for the Gospel reflection for the Feast of Pentecost. Spend some time reflecting on how the Holy Spirit guides us and directs us to live a life of prayer and care of others.
Your Change Can Change Lives! Once again we are participating in the Annual Baby Bottle Campaign fundraiser for LifeClinc Community Resources in Saginaw. Baby bottles will be available on Mother’s Day and ends on Father’s Day. By filling a baby bottle with coins, cash or a check, you will help us share God’s love and provide free and confidential services. Please make checks payable to: LifeClinic Community Resources.
On Holy Saturday, the Church waits at the Lord's tomb, in prayer and fasting, meditating on his Passion and Death and on his Descent into Hell and awaiting his Resurrection. The Church abstains from the Sacrifice of the Mass, with the sacred table left bare, until after the solemn Vigil, that is, the anticipation by night of the Resurrection, when the time comes for paschal joys, the abundance which overflows to occupy fifty days. Holy Communion may only be given on this day as Viaticum. —The Roman Missal, Third Typical Edition There are no liturgies celebrated until the Easter Vigil. This year's Easter Vigil begins at 8:30 pm at St. Peter Parish. There will be NO Sacrament of Reconciliation. There will be NO 4:30 Mass.
Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Easter Sunday, April 9th, immediately following the 8:30 am Mass. Bring your children and their Easter baskets to enjoy hunting for candy filled eggs!
The Healing Sacraments of Anointing of the Sick and Reconciliation were explored at our March 19th youth ministry night. Youth spent time learning about Jesus' healing ministry as he approached people who were suffering in body, mind and spirit with love and compassion. They found ways that they can find healing in their own lives through a variety of activities and videos with discussion. Click the link to learn more about the healing sacraments.
